We finished my friends bed last week, and I finally got a chance to get some pictures of the finished product! The Bed is so beautiful, and I am so happy with the way that it turned out. I think I had more fun working on this project then any other project that I have done. Funny thing is... the bed is not even mine.
It started with this Thomasville bed that my friend loved
And the Pottery Barn Farmhouse bed that Ana at Knock off Wood has on her site.
We started with the Pottery Barn Farmhouse bed plans on Ana's site. If you haven't been there yet, you should go.. it's addicting.
We changed the plans slightly by using plywood in the head and foot-boards instead of the slats that are used in the plans. Then, we used small molding strips to make frames on the head and foot-board to look like the design at Thomasville.
After we finished the head and foot-boards we started on the framing
Here is a picture of the head-board before we assembled it
And the finished project...
I had so much fun building this bed with my friend, I can hardly wait to start the next project!

This is amazing! I'm so happy to have found this. I went to check on 'Knock Off Wood' for buffet type pieces that I might be able to build to incorporate in to my dining room and didn't think I'd come across this bed. This is exactly what my husband and I are looking for to put in our master-in-progress! It's something I'm keeping track of on my own blog and am so excited to have your guide to follow. I can't wait to post about it. Keep up the amazing work!
You all did an amazing job! I love the black paint and I need to go check out Knock Off Wood's blog!

I wanted to say thank you. I recently found Ana's blog, too, and I really want to make her bed. Anyway, my husband described the bed design he would prefer. I remembered seeing your photos! You and your friend did such a wonderful job!

So, so beautiful! You must be so happy and proud! I hope you make one for yourself, too.
Fabulous job...what a treasure!
Wonderful job on the bed! It looks fantastic. I also wanted to chime in on your magnetic paint poll. I've used it before and it didn't work well at all. It will only hold flat magnet and not very well at that. I've read that you need to put multiple coats to get it to hold even the plastic magnet letters. It's not worth the money.
Wow! Power tools and everything! I'm impressed. :-) Great job!
Great job, I love it!!!! I am your newest follower!!
