Kids Art Display Tutorial

What a week! I feel like I didn't get anything done until today, when I was stuck at home with no car and forced to get some stuff done.  Its so easy for me to put stuff off, so today I finally got some stuff accomplished. I spent some time cleaning my daughters room, and what started as a quick pick up ended up as a full on gut job. I had two bags for Goodwill, and one bag of trash, but her room is finally livable again. Hopefully I can keep it that way. Sigh....

Do you remember talking about the art display tutorial the other day? I finished  it a few days ago but I wasn't able to get pictures until I cleaned her room up a bit.

So here it is...

My daughter is an artsy fartsy kind of girl, and she ALWAYS has papers strung about in her room. I wanted to create something that would allow her to neatly display some of her creations.

I started with this spare piece of wood I found in the garage. It is a pine board, about 4 feet  long. Mdf, or any other wood would work fine as well.

I spray painted it with Rustoleum Heirloom White.

Have you seen these little wooden things at the craft store? They have all different kinds of shapes to choose from. I went with the floral theme.

I got out my paints, and went to town. My daughter helped paint one as well.

I got out some close pins, and painted them the same color as the board, Heirloom white.

Next was to hot glue the flowers onto the close pins.

I wanted my pins to move freely across the board. If you dont mind keeping them in one spot, it would be simple to just glue them to the board. Since mine are going to move across the board, I used picture wire to thread the pins on.

I wrapped the wire around an upholstery nail and pressed it into the back of the board securing it in place. If I need to add more, or replace one it will be pretty easy to remove one nail, and thread another pin on.

Hang it, and your done!

For pictures maybe?

Hanging Art

Kinda cute by itself too.

What do you think? Like it?

If your thinking my daughters room needs to be painted... I know. Its pretty obvious in some of the pictures too. It's on the list, with many other things.

Have a fabulous weekend!

I love the feature that they can move, I've glued clothespins down before on a board, but I think I like the movable ones much more! Great thinking! :)

That's so great Shannon. I bet she loves it. It looks really cute too. I would love it if you'd link it up to We're Organized Wednesday next Wednesday. There will be a giveaway too. This is such a great idea for those who have artsy kids. I hope to see you there.

How funny! I have a project very similar to this planned for our play room.

I like the flowers decorating the clothes pins AND that they move. Nice touches.

This is a fabulous idea and it would work great for my pokey. Doesn't it feel great to get in there and do a deep clean like that?

I love that they move...nothing is worse than not being able to use one because art is too big.

That's a great idea to have them be able to slide on the wire. Well done! Thanks for sharing ... I've posted a link.
